The singer and songwriter Dion says goodbye to 2021 with Stomping Ground, a blues collection in which he is supported by anthological musicians.
The album offers moments that make you happy just thinking about them: Dion with Joe Bonamassa, Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen, Keb ‘Mo, and Patti Scialfa.
But that is not all. Other high-profile contributors include Billy F Gibbons, Boz Scaggs, Rickie Lee Jones, Marcia Ball, and G.E. Herrero, among others.
The album, available from November 5, was presented as the continuation of Blues With Friends, which marked the debut of Keeping The Blues Alive Records in 2020.
Stomping Ground was produced by Wayne Hood with Dion and is released via KTBA Records by Joe Bonamassa and Roy Weisman.
The album, undoubtedly one of the highlights of 2021, and not only for blues lovers, is available digitally, on CD, and as a two-LP vinyl set

Most of the songs were written by Dion and his composing associate Mike Aquilina.
The introductory notes were written by Pete Townshend, who wrote:
“Dion, like a circling star that never fades, generates the energy and fire we need to pull ourselves up and start again. Dion is a star who knows well how to start again, how to keep shining. He looks at his watch every few years. Damn, let’s make a record! Take care. This one will blow those little white things in our ears right into your brain.”
Also Dion himself offers a track-by-track description of the 14 songs, 13 of them original.
The only cover of the album is Jimi Hendrix’s memorable “Red House” in which Dion is backed by Keb ’Mo’.
About this collaboration in his notes, Dion points out: “We had a wonderful time at ‘Red House’. I am honored to have him join me on this Jimi Hendrix cover/tribute. We did it as only we could. I think Jimi would approve!
